The whole discussion about "limp mode" and "protection mode" is utterly useless If you drive the device beyond rated spec, you cause it to go into protection mode, like you do any amplifier in any price class That usually cannot be reset without a power cycle But that doesn't happen with normal use EVER!

That setting is applicable only when used in shared mode as it says there Since the Windows Audio engine has to mix all the sources using the audio output in shared mode and they can be in different sample rates, Windows resamples everything to the selected rate and depth unless it is already at that rate
