CVM Installation planned to start in June 2023 in limited number of stations, followed by full rollout in August 2023 to complete installation by October 2024 (I think that the use of Metro Card will be really phased out by October-November 2024 based on when the Vending machine will be completed installed on all subway stations)

What percentage of riders will use OMNY machines? Those who want to pay cash can buy OMNY cards already at vendors throughout the city and those vendors can give actual change I don’t see a need for machines for OMNY except for entry and exit readers I realize the MTA is putting these machines in to replace all the metrocard machines but it seems unnecessary Metrocard required prepaid

But the agency now says the MetroCard is here to stay indefinitely with the OMNY project not expected to be complete until 2026, as the MTA seeks to roll out the program for students and other discount-fare riders

So I read the article and they say it will be scheduled to complete OMNY machine installation "is now scheduled by the middle of next year" So I am guessing it will be completed by June 2025 I am guessing they will phase out Metro card by the end of the year which is Dec 31,2025 In 2026 it should be fully OMNY They should be sending out to the senior physical cards by now since they just

If you are a senior, only one bank card (don't know about actual OMNY card) can be stated as such If you change cards, call customer service, and it will take a couple of days
