Nobody because they went fully day 1 on PC on their own store and launcher They weren't third party then Neither would Sony be if they had a PC store and launcher But when you sell your own games on someone else's store you are third party on that store And today Microsoft is third party on Steam, PlayStation, Switch But they're still first party on Xbox and Microsoft Store And today

Since some Sony first party games now cost 200 to 300 million to develop and most Live Service games from Sony have failed (Except for Helldivers 2) Does it still make sense for Sony to produce consoles at all? Especially since they are getting even more expensive over time I don't even want to

Exactly They need to remember they are in the platform business first and foremost, which is a significantly more profitable and stable business than being a third party games developer Sony needs to scale back their first party significantly while focusing on types of games other devs don't make And keep them 100% exclusive like Nintendo

Third party games on Switch 2 will suffer the same fate as third party games on Switch 1 Even worse because of the cartdriges problem as most third party games won't be included on the cartdrige 3rd parties are thanking Nintendo for game key cards, but keep it up with the mental gymnastics
- Seems like with Japanese third party developers it’s a wrap . . . - NeoGAF
Seems like the benefit of a full multi platform launch is exceeding whatever Sony and Nintendo are willing to pay for the timed exclusivity But I think we'll continue seeing exclusives were a Japanese developer works as a "second party" (as in the game is actually funded and published by Sony Nintendo, but it's developed by an external studio)
