I've been thinking about this for a while now and I've googled but nothing comes up and it's probably the obvious but why do we need to cut spent banana trees? do they just not grow anymore? I just want an explaination on why it needs to be done, one banana stalk from last year I haven't cut down

@Tracy do you think a new cycad could grow from the taproot? it's about 4 to 5 inches long and carrot shaped I don't know You can try and see what happens The closest comparison I can provide was a small 1 1 2" caudex Encephalartos nubimontanus that was run over by a dog a few years ago

Frizzle top shows up in the newest frond because manganese is not translocatable in the palm As soon as it is depleted in the soil, the deficiency shows in the new growth

The top collapsed and let snow touch the frost cloth, which indirectly contacted the tops of the fronds, causing tip burn I checked on it afterwards, and it had some slight damage, but I then checked on it the next day (it got down to 6-8f (-14 to -13c) that night), and the tips of the fronds, as I stated, had burnt and crisped
