Portillos has been overrated since the mid 00s, but it is still a good beef I harbor some resentment towards them because every Portillos that opens kills a mom and pop hotdog stand It is the Walmart of hotdogs and beef Bouna, Al's, Johnnie's, and anywhere that serves Scalas have always been as good if not better than Portillos

Portillos serves a diff niche than like a lil spot for a beef or a hot dog If I want portillos I specifically want PORTILLOS… and that includes the cheese fries that gets cold too fast and the monstrosity that is a cake shake

Portillos isn’t mind blowingly good- it never was during its peak and it isn’t now when it’s definitely declined It’s just comfort food for a lot of us that we grew up with The Maxwell polish tho IS amazing and better than actual Maxwell street

I’m from southwest Wisconsin We have a lot of people from chicago sp we have some pretty good local places to get Italian beef I’ve always wanted to try one from chicago I drove to Michigan to visit my mother for The Weekend and stopped at portillos It was good- but I was a little disappointed to be honest- the places we have in my town are better I’m driving back through tomorrow
