Kia (and every other manufacturer) will state that it's normal for a motor to burn use oil up to 1 quart 1000 miles (1600kms) Take your 8000kms that you state you were over divided by the "normal" consumption of quart 1600kms and you get exactly 5 quarts that your motor was low, basically out of oil
