If the Quadra is powered off without a proper shutdown, rarely it may ask for a password on boot, and the default password (unchanged) is not recognized It might also boot to a black (blank) screen or have other problems booting If this happens, it means that the system has been corrupted and can no longer start the desktop, run programs, etc

After a storm-induced power failure, my Quadra refused to boot to the desktop When power was applied, the Quadra splash screen with the progress bar would show up Then a blank screen and a warning from the monitor about going into power saving mode, meaning the monitor was not receiving a video signal
