I pay $17 for a 7lb refill (oddball tank) at my local scuba shop If I had a normal 5lb tank, I could exchange it at my local Airgas for $10 I bought the 7lb from Beverage Elements for around $40 shipped ( I have 2 of them)

Do you know how much for refill or exchange 5 lb? Welcome to our forums! You've replied to a very old thread, and may not get an answer I would call around to several places in your area that sell bottled gas, such as welding supply places Most will swap exchange, not fill on premises

Assuming I want to refill an empty 5 lb tank from a 20 lb tank, if I did not prechill the 5 lb tank, what percentage of full should I expect to get filling this way (20 lb tank inverted, of course)? Can I use this method rather than needing to weigh the 5 lb bottle to know when to stop filling?

The amount of time and effort it would take to "pour" dry ice powder into a cylinder, why not spend the $17 for a real liquid refill? Is this guy taking the valve off of the tank to pour in the powder?
