  • Remo vs. Evans heads | [DFO] Drum Forum
I agree Remo coatings for batter heads don't seem to have much of a life-span I seldom use coated heads, prefer textured heads for snares so have limited experience To my ears, Evans heads seem to fit a more modern sound that emphasizes attack at the expense of resonance i would rather have the resonance, ergo i use mostly Remo heads 1 2 3
  • Coated head comparison for toms: Remo Ambassador -vs- Remo Emperor
Remo sent me a set of heads for him He used a Coated Ambassador over a clear Ambassador on the high tom, and Coated Emperors over clear Ambassadors on the floor toms I really liked that combination, and I've been using it ever since (Sometimes I use coated Ambassadors on the resonant side )
  • Remos | [DFO] Drum Forum
Remo has always been a big dog in the area of drum heads and has a bit of a following for their world percussion instruments Their djembes in particular are very popular As for their drum kits, they never became a major player That isn't because of quality Their drums sound great and I've found them to have good build quality
  • Gretsch Permatone heads compared to Remo Coated Ambassador
To my knowledge, Permatone heads are actually Remo Ambassador heads! Remo just stamps the Permatone logo on them If I'm mistaken, I hope others will chime in -Mark Apr 20, 2015 #3
  • Man, I love my REMO Mastertouch kit | Page 2 | [DFO] Drum Forum
I still get a certain thrill when I play my '94 Remo Triumph set (same R 516 shells as yours ) I just hate lugging them I picked up a cheap Remo Bravo set last year (with the same great shells) to leave at a practice house I added wood hoops and swapped out the heavy "tall" hoops with
  • Aquarian drumheads vs Remo? | [DFO] Drum Forum
How are the Aquarian "Performance II Power Dot" drumheads? I've always played the Remo pinstripes and really like them I like the look of the Aquarians as they are a bit more decorative and have the black stripe and white dot in the center I've never played Aquarian, how are they compared to
  • Remo Suede vs Coated? | [DFO] Drum Forum
Anyone have any experience comparing Remo coated with the regular or white Suede? They sound pretty similar in the videos I looked up, but I'm curious is they differ much in person
  • Vintage Gretsch Permatone drum heads theory - [DFO] Drum Forum
It's become "myth" (I think) that Gretsch had Remo make Permatone heads slightly larger to accommodate their larger shells Like many other vintage drum
