Carter McLean’s YouTube video of him playing his Ludwig Classic Maple kit has inspired me to try the Remo Clear Black Dot heard on my Noble and Cooley CD

Remo sent me a set of heads for him He used a Coated Ambassador over a clear Ambassador on the high tom, and Coated Emperors over clear Ambassadors on the floor toms I really liked that combination, and I've been using it ever since (Sometimes I use coated Ambassadors on the resonant side )

P D Siddall, Your drums are Remo Bravo II in Blue Chromeburst Quadura finish These sets were first offered in Remo's 1999 catalog and continued production into 2001 as far as I know Made in Valencia, Ca with Acousticon-R shells which are the same shells as the Mastertouch line

A few weeks back, I bought a Pearl Piccolo maple snare drum This is not an expensive drum, but it is nicely finished and works fine To my surprise, the drum came with what appeared to be Remo Ambassador USA heads Fast forward I'd been trying to get sounds typical of Ambassadors and

When Remo came out with its Gold Crown sets in the early-mid 2000s, they have new shells called Advanced Acousticon Interestingly, Remo dropped the molded bearing edges and returned to cut edges for these drums In an interview in Modern Drummer, a Remo rep said that the molded edge wasn't working for them but didn't explain exactly what he meant Hope this helps

If you did that on a Remo, you would obliterate the coating right quick I tune them super tight when they're first on the drum, let them sit for 24 hours, and then back them down Once they stretch and settle on the drum, to me, they sound exactly like Ambassadors Very sensitive, great tonality
