- Rouleaux or cold auto - Transfusion Services - PathLabTalk
We perform our antibody screens at 37C and IAT only (since AABB STD's says methods that detect SIGNIFICANT antibodies) The problem is, that crossmatches are performed at Immediate Spin Cold autos are missed at antibody screening, and the screen is reported as negative When techs crossmatch units,
- saline replacement in serum discrepancy - PathLabTalk
How do you perform saline replacement when there is serum discrepancy due to rouleaux formantion? From the last step,2 drops of saline is added and resuspend it with red cells does it need to read the agglutination macroscopically?(because iso-antibodies are IgM antibodies) AABB Technical manual d
- Rouleaux interference - Transfusion Services - PathLabTalk
Expand It's not uncommon to see rouleaux interference in Gel testing but it's not something we see frequently The crossmatch question is interesting: Technically, the screen is negative for alloantibody reactivity so I think you'd be able to follow your procedure for that result However, with the immediate spin crossmatch, you may have to perform a saline replacement to obtain a "compatible
- can you tell if Rouleaux is present just from looking at the gel card . . .
I apologize, this may be a stupid question For example, if you are trying to do a gel cross match and the donor cells have Rouleaux, can you tell that from looking at the gel card? If so, can you tell me where I can find some pictures of this reaction Thank you for your time and help in advance
- Do you wash your screening cells? For rouleaux? Why?
I had this patient with multiple myeloma Her antibody screen on gel card had rouleaux reactions for all 3 screening cells I then washed the screening cells six times with warm saline The screen was then negative Forgive me if this is dumb, but why wash the screen cells? Obviously it worked, b
- saline replacement or AHG crossmatch? - PathLabTalk
our policy here is we only do IS crossmatches when there are no current or previous problems so this means we do an AHG crossmatch when we find rouleaux on the IS crossmatch i was wondering if others do the same or just do saline replacement on the IS crossmatch and call it good if negative thanks
- Is the full crossmatch valid after saline replacement
Hi all, We have a patient with strong rouleaux and an alloantibody According to our policy, we need to perform a full crossmatch which means the crossmatch is carried from immediate spin, to 37C and to AHG phases Due to the strong rouleaux, a saline replacement technique has to be used during t
- Procedure For Making Student Specimens - PathLabTalk
Does anyone have any procedures that they can share for making up student specimens, either spiking plasma samples with antibodies but even more so, making up specimens for doing eluates? If there are some on this site already, sorry for the repeat, but I can't find them
