As a foreigner living in Canada, every Vietnamese person I talk to here says Saigon But when I consume media from Vietnamese people on YouTube they use HCMC and Saigon both, but seemingly hcmc a little bit more often This is all to say, I've only heard people in Vietnam use HCMC

I use "Saigon" in casual conversation and "Ho Chi Minh City" in all formal communications or during interviews or while speaking to someone in office On envelopes it's TP HCM which is short and easy
