The Yamaha 150, 175, 200 and 220 use the same gear case from SEI (so I was told by the dealer) so why is 165hp ok on a 220hp motor but only 112hp on a 150? If this was an issue I think they should be worked in and load tested before sale to alleviate any discrepancy regarding operator abuse

For sure the SEI is not a clone of a Verado style gear case but a clone of the older style 3 0L gear case that is what shipped on V6 Optimax motors up to 07 So basically if this motors was a just a little older, it would have gotten the older style gear case that was standard from like 97-07 or there abouts
