EDIT: and yes, SMG-III can be made to shift fairly well with carefully timed and measured lifts, but it's still a pain because you're not controlling the clutch, so you can't coordinate clutch gas You have to pull the paddle, then learn how to time your lift to your paddle pull so that it lines up with the clutch engagement

SMG, or SSG as it is called in the rest of the world was available on Non-M cars, and is nothing like the SMGll that came on the M3's All E46 M3's that have Smg tranny are SMGll's All the SMGll's are the same and all have the 11 selections in the Drivelogic system
