  • O T Vintage sign paint removal restoration question
I had an old "AAA Approved" sign that was coated with paint I could work with it over the kitchen sink Very hot water softened the paint, and a whole box of SOS pads took it off The soap in the SOS acted like a lubricant, so it didn't hurt the enamal painted sign Along those lines, maybe try a high-pressure steam cleaner?-Brad
  • Best way to clean up old chrome (dull and rust) | The H. A. M. B.
SOS soap pads work well 4x steel wool and polish as stated above The FOGGER Fogger, Oct 13, 2009
  • Projects - Old patina painting technique | The H. A. M. B.
You can use wet SOS pads to clean your chrome up a bit too if you want (not stainless) Looks like you have the patina look already but I understand wanting a little cleaner less orange rust look, you may even want to talk to someone about buffing it out a little, I dont know how to do that correctly myself but I need to learn Good luck!
  • Use household cleaning items on your car? | The H. A. M. B.
I also use SOS pads a lot in the shop The soap on them acts as a lubricant while you're cleaning stuff I've used it on old metal signs and tool boxes, stainless trim, garage sale tools, white walls, etc Use it delicately It's a ham-fisted appraoch to some cleaning solutions, but I always keep a box in the shop
  • White Wall tires cleaning ? | The H. A. M. B. - The Jalopy Journal
The cheapest white wall cleaner and the most effective without scratching the surface off white wall tires is the "Pink-Pensil-Eraser" get the largest one you can find, it doesn't put 'scratches' in the white wall material like sos pads or other abrasives, and doesn't wear the white off in time like those expensive chemical cleansers
  • How to remove overspray off of chrome. | The H. A. M. B. - The Jalopy Journal
Chrome is easier to scratch than most people think SOS pads will scratch the hell out of the plating, as will course steel wool and using the wrong scotch brite pad will do the same especially if any real pressure is used Razor on the glass easy, quick and works great
  • Customs Vinyl wrapping chrome instead of rechroming - The Jalopy Journal
Typically I'd be all for the SOS scrub on a chrome piece that rough, but in my experience, the plating on 1951-1954 Chevy car grilles is so thin that any hard polishing takes the plating off and leaves the copper exposed, except for the die cast teeth
  • Projects Ford Model A Speed Equipment - The Jalopy Journal
I like original parts as well Specifically Winfield stuff On my banger I'm running a Super Winfield 7:1 head Winfield SU1A cam Downdraft B
