As an aside, If you go hiking on Piestewa Peak, one of the trails is called the Bayless Connector, since that passed over Robert Bayless's property (it still had a sign signed "R Bayless" last time I was there in 2010) He was a near-daily fixture on the trails of then-Squaw Peak in the 90's and early '00s, since he loved to hike the mountain and talk with people about the history of Phoenix
