A few recent T-Mobile locked phones (one of them is Revvl, another one - I do not remember) do not work with T-Mobile MVNOs They do not pop-up "enter unlock code" message, they accept SIM card but do not see any network I suspect that at least many of ( or even all) 5G compatible T-Mobile locked phones do not work with T-Mobile NVNOs

(Unlocking happens both on the phone and on the T-Mobile network ) Maybe when one unlocks a phone without going through T-Mobile, the phone can then accept a foreign SIM card (and will work on a foreign network) But when the phone is connected to the T-Mobile network, the T-Mobile network knows the phone really should still be locked
