Sonnax sells a fix for both, but they require valve body removal and special tools to bore the VB I have the tools to do the 4L80E valve body since I build them fairly frequently, and a GOOD trans shop should be able to do it as well You could also buy a reman VB

Will install Sonnax reinforcement kit- but was wondering what parameters are met with deciding to go with their HD backing plates vs GM 4L60E thicker backing plates? There's very little info in search and I think Sonnax make some great parts- but they like promoting them also

The work around I found, without dropping the pan yet again, (which is an uncomfortable exercise given my car's layout) Was incorporating Sonnax's corrector spring Seemed a little hokey however the result was no slack at idle, good pressure and good response

Spend the money on the Shift kit instead of the Sonnax accumulator valve kit, you will get much more out of it This kit can be made into a Heavy Duty Shift kit easily Add the Corvette servo, 471" main boost valve, 296" intermediate reverse boost valve and my modified Shift kit instructions

Sonnax now has a new planetary set that gets rid of the excessive 3 06:1 first gear, and changes it to something much more manageable in the 2 7:1 range, also narrowing the drop between first and second gear

I also rollerized the rear thrust with the TH350 pump bearing and appropriate shims to get the endplay in spec The pump had some pretty good wear so I replaced it with a reman and installed a Sonnax boost valve and changed all the bushings that appeared worn throughout the trans The trans works flawlessly now and shifts nice and firm
