Hi Guys and Gals! I hope this is the right place to ask I had a user install a Chromium-based browser called Wave Browser (by Wavesor Software) I've never heard of it A quick web search didn't yield many results It could not be uninstalled either I'm guessing malware?!? Has any one heard of this browser?

Just for future reference, wave browser is most certainly malicious Its icon is made to mimic the Edge browser built into windows and intercepts downloads from malwarebytes com (tools to remove crap like this) Wave browser was freaking out windows defender as well

Are you sure the detection is for hash a781d948a8f5153fb2104d839f40cf92879ad36160bbeb74b48b3ce4a36 -- which is WaveBrowser -- and not for something WaveBrowser is writing to disk?

Change your passwords, make sure you are using 2FA wherever possible, run a virus scan And most importantly either teach your kid how to spot scams like these as this one is fairly obvious or don't give him any unnecessary priveleges on the PC

trueLet me explain: I know nothing about viruses antivirus software Today when I was logging on my family computer (windows 10) I noticed that all of the shortcuts on the desktop that were originally from Microsoft Edge are now replaced with something called "Wave Browser" Google Chrome, which is what I primarily use, seems to have not been changed at all No one in my family has said that

Does anyone have any way they block out any appdata installs of software? Specifically Wave Browser and similar install types? We use S1 and I'm seeing Wave be installed on more PCs without any admin credentials since they sit in appdata
