Funny you ask, I'm working up a 62gr SS109 plinking load with Tac tonight Currently throwing 24 5gr of CFE in the 62gr loadings for plinking Mild, ballpark accurate loading thats GTG for plinking I want to try a few faster powders since most of my plinking is done from a 10" SBR so there isn't much time for a good powder burn

Started with 6 5 on my new AR build I've got TAC, Varget, and CFE223 on hand Any other great powders for 123 grain loads that I should be looking at? Shooting from a 20" barrel Per my Lyman manual Varget looks like a great powder but its pricey

- Best powders for particular grain ranges of bullets in 223 556 - Your . . .
I have used two powders for heavy bullets in 223 - TAC and Varget I only use 75 gr Hornady HPBT-M and Sierra 80 gr MatchKings Every time I test, Varget yields better accuracy than TAC (1 2 MOA vs 3 4 MOA at 200 yards) For me, in my measure, using my technique, Varget meters better than most extruded powders (SD = 0 1 gr) TAC throws with SD = 0 014 gr, however, this low dispersion of charge

- TAC load data for . 223 and 5. 56 from the source - AR15. COM
My plinking load for 55 gr pills out of a 16" 1 in 7 twist is 25 3 gr TAC and a CCI 400 which chronos at 2700fps The initial Ramshot data placed this load as a MAX load which it obviously wasn't 25 3 grains is just barely above the start load in the new data but then again these new specs are for an M-193 power load not a plinking load
- BLC-2 vs TAC gt; General Discussion gt; AR15. COM
TAC is a ball powder, but is generally considered to have decent temp stability - relative to other common ball powders - so I use it I'd prefer stick powders but the better ones have gotten expensive and scarce lately
