The selector valve was still on the truck when I got it but frozen up so I changed it out with one that has a solenoid and does it automatically when the other tank is selected I'm going to be adding an in cab tank as the main tank though and found a diagram of the setup and located the parts shown for it through Dennis Carpenter

Replace the Evaporator Purge Valve These go bad, cause a vacuum in the tank which causes it to pull in If it still reads bad, you'll also need to pull the fuel pump assembly from the tank to replace it, because the tank pulled in enough to bend the fuel pump assembly

Also try not putting the nozzle all the way in like you are supposed to; stop maybe 1 2" short and let the tank breath Finally try rotating the nozzle to be at an angle rather then just plugging the nozzle in; twist it (and hold it) 45° to the front or back and see it is will take fuel faster

Recently re-married the ex, inherited this 89 F250 which seems to not selecting the rear tank The gas guage does not move when selector switch is switched between front and rear 10 amp fuse was missing (replaced no help) and seems to be stuck on front tank Fuse location is marked (fuel selector)

The tank selector valve not only switches fuel lines but also switches the signal wire from the proper sending unit to the gauge So if you bypassed the selector valve and didn’t tie the sender wire from the front tank directly to the gauge circuit through the dash or through where the selector valve used to switch it, then the gauge won’t
