The Tor Browser doesn't work this way It can run from any location (your home directory, an USB stick, etc ) Therefore the software is rather unpacked than installed When you start it, it creates several files in the directory where it is started The user who starts Tor Browser needs to have write permissions to this directory
- Does my ISP know what sites I have visited if I am using Tor?
Additionally, since Tor encrypts your traffic your ISP can't see your HTTP requests, so they can't see what websites you're trying to download There's also the issue of stuff like DNS If you try to resolve a URL using DNS in the clear (without using Tor) then that reveals what websites you intend to visit
- How to configure tor torrc correctly to use tor as HTTP proxy?
Tor only provides a CONNECT proxy and not a GET proxy This means that you can only make HTTPS connections through Tor's proxy If you want a GET proxy to make HTTP requests (without TLS), you will need to add another proxy in front of Tor that will act as an HTTP proxy, but forward requests to Tor's SOCKS proxy
