These traps should work OK for you get you started The price was right Easy to throw if crabbing from a bank or anchored With a little wrist flip (and practice) just before the trap hits the water it will land flat or slightly tipped toward you so it opens correctly In time you should be able to get a trap out about 20-30 feet open right

Traps in NJ have no limit since they don't trap them inside like a POT does Crabs can walk in and out BUT Pots you need a license for NJ Rec Commercial trap (aka Pot) license is $2 for 2 pots Sometimes they are called MD or Chesapeake style traps Usually huge cubes sized about 3'x3'x3' I use an internet guy in Delaware for vinyl
