The receiver cover markings are definitely Russian Tula Arsenal markings My 1954 Russkie has the same one The stock marking is a Chinese Factory 21 triangle marking Very common on military-issue Chinese SKSs from that factory I have a 1963 Chinese Military SKS that has Factory 26 markings

I have recently started too see a greater amount of steel cased ammo at my local gun shop Has anyone ever had bad experience with these rounds or any problems? What are the differences between brass and steel? Can they hurt you weapons?

It's actually a lead core bullet, but with a steel copper (bimetal jacket) The usual culprits will also have a steel case instead of brass So basically if the ammo is listed as"Steel cased" dont buy it Your range wont let you shoot it Just a few off the Russian brands off the top of my head: Wolf (non gold line) Tula Barnual Silver Bear Brown Bear Bvac should be fine, as it is US made

Based on the single 1,000 round case I bought compared to 1,000 round cases of Tula, Wolf (two types), Silver Bear and another darn brand I can't seem to remember right now - both of us shooting that ammo thought Red Army was the worst

Tula is ok Some guns may not like the steel case (usually FTE's), and you can't reload it Some ranges forbid it because of that Velocity is highly overrated in a defensive handgun I didn't think so until I read several independent articles I switched from Speer Gold Dot 124 gr +p to Speer Gold Dot 147 gr standard

I see this stuff at Walmart for about $5 per 20 That's 200 rounds for about $50 dollars It's Russian steel case though I've shot a bit of this in my XD but have no experience with it in 223 in a Mini 14
