USF has an amazing cancer center in the form of Moffitt, which is comparable to the cancer center Miami has (Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center) The research and shadowing opportunities are almost second to none, and far surpass that of UF

USF admin has bad vibes They are often unsupportive The graded preclinical being something that the student body requested just makes me think it’s full of gunners I also just strongly dislike a lot of USF’s policies during admissions, for example that you have to CTE to be considered for scholarships I loved UF’s vibes as a school

USF is a great school but Duke is a fantastic environment for premeds and you could potentially do even better there than USF Med Plus the pedigree from Duke would help in case you change your mind about medicine, or if you want to do anything besides traditional practice (ex consulting, healthcare startups, etc)

USF Morsani Pros: Tampa seems like a great place to live, and I liked the area, very academic-oriented with a good mix of in-house and NBME exams, a lot of prep for STEP, great rotations and heard great things from students, new building, provides funding for research projects, scholarship concentration that can be your independent project

Lower ranked than USF Don't care about prestige for prestige's sake but would hate to be limited by reputation resources of the school I attended ; Fewer research opportunities than USF; Step 1 pass rates falling since 2022 ( 99 -> 96 -> 91 -> 90 in 2024!) USF has a solid match list and seems to be in a highly desirable location Personally have heard great things from graduates of the overall environment and opportunities available within the institution The have a graded curriculum but can present as relatively less stressful for your personal situation given how close your support system is

Currently on WL for USF, but I have been told USF loves their high MCATs (got a 524) and is very receptive to wled applicants who send letters of intent Leaning heavily towards tulane rn since I feel like I will be able to be a big fish in a smaller pond there, and graded preclinical seems like a pain but please let me know your thoughts
