Ubiquiti has a cult following because when they first started offering AirMax and Edgerouter devices, nothing like them existed Then the UniFi APs showed up and again, nothing like that really existed at those prices before The unifi switches arent really anything special, but it's nice to have everything centralized

I am still trying to decide whether or not I should go for Ubiquiti or Dahua cams for a new home security system I know Dahua is more bang for the buck, and Ubiquiti cam allows remote access without the need of a VPN if I want a secure video feed from the Dahua I am planning on 7 outdoor cameras, 1 doorbell camera, and 3 interior camera

As it turned out, the worst part was getting a human being on the phone More on this below At first she thought I was trying to activate the Xfinity modem, but then I said, "I am trying to activate a new 3rd party modem that I just installed, it's Ubiquity UCI and it's on the approved equipment list" After that, we were on the same page

Ubiquiti is for people that have a lot of money to throw and looking for easier application, but ultimately they are getting locked into their eco-system, just like Apple does I am not saying they are not good but there are cheaper alternatives Look for Mikrotik (not for novices), TP Link, etc

Judging by Ubiquiti’s documentation and comments on getting the UCI up and running, it doesn’t sound like much of that is under their control If the device has been certified to work on a network but that network doesn’t recognize it for some reason or the system hasn’t updated to show it as a certified device, who does the blame fall on?
