On the early Land Rover 3 5 V8s (Strombergs) there is a bypass pipe hole in the bottom of the thermostat housing that has a s rubber pipe that connects to the back of the timing cover - it allows coolant to pass between the inlet manifold and water pump while the thermostat is still closed It allows the circulation of a small amount of coolant from the water pump into the engine and back

Pressure is held between the pump and reg - so a leak on the return wouldn't effect this The FSE I had wasn't good at holding pressure once the pump stopped The fuel rail size wouldn't make a difference to the pressure, but would to how long it takes to come up to full pressure from zero

Used a MGB V8 radiator, never had cooling issues I also ran a Kenlow fan No point 'blowing' or anything like that, has no effect, and do not fill from expansion tank! You don't seem to have a radiator cap pressure cap at all? You need a permanent breathing solution to remove air entrainment caused by cavitation that the water pump creates
