Because Microsoft doesn't want to fully commit to open source, their new C# Dev Kit extension and debugger work only with the official build of VSCode There is a fully open source plugin by muhammadsammy that uses OmniSharp for IntelliSense and NetCoreDbg as a debugger It should work with VSCodium Personally, I used this combo for studying and hated it OmniSharp would bug out all the time

VSCodium is the build of Code-OSS but with telemetry turned off by default (and I read that they also try to take care of other deep hidden telemetry as well) VSCodium is very similar to Code-OSS

Since you mentioned Vscodium Pylance is proprietary MS software and thus not available in Vscodium or any version of vscode not MS branded if I recall, you can still use Pyright tho Same for the remote ssh extension I don't use vscode anymore but I'm using Pyright ruff and Black on neovim, I'd use the same with Vscodium
