I considered Valvoline's CVT fluid but decided I didn't want to experiment with it at the point just to save a few bucks $80 for four quarts of Honda fluid is a bit steep I think the days of a high-quality universal fluid like MaxLife ATF for Dexron III applications are over For CVTs at least

Even the Valvoline SynPower Gear Oil that you can buy at Walmart (or Mobil 1) would be a huge improvement, not to mention if you went for Amsoil Severe Gear or Red Line Castrol Syntrax (the European kind) is my top pick as it has some heavy-duty approvals

Dexron VI is more or less the same thing as Mercon LV, and is nothing like Dexron III I'd stick with Dexron III if that's what your car specs It's cheaper and easier to come by as well, IIRC

Valvoline Restore and Protect is designed to clean at a slower pace over regular oil change intervals to not clog the oil filter resulting in it bypassing, this is something that they had to keep in mind while coming up with this product as it is a "mainstream" off the shelf licensed product

I've so far used the Valvoline product, but it has shot up in price and I picked up a stash of Mercon After that I'll probably go with HPL and stretch the OCI out some I am adding a PPE pan though in the next couple months, just for the drain plug, since sucking the fluid out is a bit of a pain

The J35 is a good engine We have one in our 2024 Odyssey You might want to reconsider that mileage on an oil change - these are GDI engines and like to dilute the oil with fuel and contaminate it with soot I do 5000 mile OCIs in ours for that reason, regardless of the maintenance minder, and I don’t use 20 grade Like most, if not all, modern oils, Valvoline Restore and Protect's
