I know they aren’t in the same class as say the Tiagras but they advertise just as much drag capability as a tiagra 50 I know they aren’t the same caliber of reel but will they handle a 80-100 lb

I though Wahoos were foam filled like Whalers I’ll be following We weren't exactly sure how the hull was constructed when we started out so we figured the easiest way to find out was to cut it open It turns out the hull is constructed in 2 parts and the cap was held on by rivets and adhesive underneath the rub rail

The biggest difference construction-wise between Whaler and Wahoo, is that Whalers are foam FILLED, while Wahoos are foam LINED, with a void between the hul liner foam, and the cap foam

Wahoo was a great boat, I've owned both Wahoo and Whaler I had a 1994 1650 DC with a Yamaha 70 on it that ran forever and still does The ride and quality are just as good as similar size whalers I currently own a Montauk 170 and I'm very happy with it as well I know some of the Whaler purist look down at Wahoos but the 21CC and smaller were great boats

Those Wahoos were nice boats US Marine, then a division of Brunswick, bought Wahoo in 1996 and then re-labeled most of the Wahoo hulls as Robalo Several of the current Robalo hulls evolved from those Wahoo boats Robalo stopped building their 21' and used the Wahoo hull moving forward
