seems white fish have taken over the river my dad lives 3 miles out madras hwy on the river lately i have only caught white fish and small rainbows When he first moved in(4 years ago) we would reel in some nice size rainbows and lots of them Wonder what has happened? DID I get all the rainbows

Definitely have caught whitefish in Idaho so I do know that one I was just fishing for points in the multi-species contest that's ongoing on the kayak forum Unfortunately, pikeminnow is not on the list Thanks for those pictures This is getting like an ichthyology class around here

Well-known member Nov 23, 2011 i heard midge dries and nymphs have been working quite well, so any color zebra midge or anything small and black pretty much, pheasent tails for BWO's and small egg patterns for whitefish eggs i would trail the whitefish eggs on a nymph rig on 5x tippet below a possie bugger or bead head prince good luck

The whitefish is actually a close cousin of the trout family (just like arctic char's are also related) They are reported to be flavorful and have similar bone structure I still, however, cannot picture myself eating a "sucker" fish of any kind whitefish, chub, or pikeminnow (squawfish)
