I recently noticed that one of my external hard drive seems to be missing a lot of space It was recommended that I try WinDirStat, as it could help identify how much space each file was taking up

WinDirStat, manual inspection, and any other storage consumption analysis tool report 46GB of data on the drive when launched from a copy of Windows running on the SSD This is a big discrepancy from the ~99GB consumed Where is all my free space?

I am not sure but when I start my Command Prompt in Administrator mode, I can't switch to a mapped drive I can do so if I am not in Administrator mode Am I missing something simple?

- Cant delete folder and I am admin. You need permission to perform . . .
Just a thought: What are the attributes of the folder and everything under it? If something is set to read only (or maybe system), then you would probably have to remove those attributes before you could delete it even if you own it and are an admin I haven't worked at that level in Windows for a long time, but that's how it used to work

These folders substantially slow down the WinDirStat file tree scan Instead of attempting to persuade an extremely outdated utility to work efficiently, I recommend switching to a superior free tool that benefits from ongoing developer support: TreeSize Based on my recent experience with WinDirStat, it's about 10x slower than TreeSize!
