I picked up a pond yacht this past weekend It belonged to a neighbor who gave it to us "kids" 25 years ago So, on the trip home to visit the grandparents, I retrieved it from the basement and son and I hope to give "Bourtai" new life on Walden Pond Here are some pictures: Anyone out there know anything about this boat???

Re: Steam Yachts from 100 years ago Looking at steam yacht lines plans and GA drawings in Dixon Kemp I am struck by how very impractical they were In the days of coal fired Scotch boilers most of the hull was taken up with boiler room, engine room, coal bunkers and crew accomodation

I am looking for a pond yacht that for sure works If you follow the links on the page Dave Fleming put up, you'll find ready-made pond yachts and those will for sure work Be sure to be sitting down when you see the prices!!! At the high end, you could spend considerably less in materials for a full sized sailboat for 2-3 full sized people!

- Deck Camber? - The WoodenBoat Forum
My copy of Skene's Elements of Yacht Design says to use 1 4 to 3 8 inch of camber per foot of beam, and it gives the geometric layout So I did a 4' template with 1 1 16" camber (the light colored wood) and another 8' template with 2 3 16" camber (my bad measurement, but close, on the meranti)) however the two templates don't come anywhere near the same curvature, as one can seen in the photo
