- Bullet Concentricity Runout - Long Range Hunting Forum
Hi all, I upgraded my whole reloading setup recently and just got everything set up Using an Amp Annealer, Amp Arbor Press, Short Action Customs Infinity in-line Seating Die, Area 419 Zero Gen II press (for sizing), Area 419 M series FL sizing dies, Accuracy One Concentricity gauge, and

Accuracy One Concentricity Gauge The Accuracy One Concentricity Gauge measures the internal and external neck runout of a cartridge case as well as seated bullet runout
- Concentricity . . how important? - Long Range Hunting Forum
Educate me as to the importance of bullet brass concentricity I have experienced great accuracy when I take the time to run every round through the gauge and shoot the groups from the rounds that are "round" Let me hear what you're doing to ensure concentricity -Swede

'Concentricity' is a misnomer for and meaningless to ammo measure It's very difficult to measure bullet run out in itself But the v-block type run out gages provided for loaded ammo run out off seated bullets You can not measure neck thickness via run out readings It takes a ball mic to do this

I just ordered a Hornady Concentricity Gauge I keep reading about setting up dies correctly to minimize run out So how do you set up dies differently? Granted I don't have results from measurements yet but want to understand how to tweak dies for minimum run out Thanks

Sometimes this will give you better seated bullet concentricity Make sure the seating stem is not interfering with, or hitting, the tip of the bullet You can play with the seating stem by making slight adjustments to try and center it and get better concentricity when seating

This is more of a theoretical question I haven't found the answer to After seating a round, I always will put it in a concentricity tool, and if the runout is greater than 002, I will use the adjustment tool to straighten the round until it is less that 002 In doing that, am I creating a variance in neck tensions across my rounds, and possibly impacting variables like pressure, velocity
