OK I have go a Trimac Cichlid and it's about 8 or 9 inches I wanted to find out some info on them, since it's tough to find some solid detailed info on that fish since it aint too popular The fish is in a 150 gallon with a 6" red devil 1 )what is the max size usually for a male??? 2 )

So I picked up a roughly 8 inch male trimac today Is their anything special I need to know about this fish or is it just like most big aggressive cichlid He's shy at the moment but I know he's only new to the tank he is on his own well with a pictus catfish What is the best result and feeding

A trimac pair would need a tank close to 120 gallons, a trimac with a midas would need a tank close to 150 gallons, and a male trimac by itself would need at least a 75 gallon

At 5 1 2" he knew he was top dog and all the 4" trimac were nipped at and tails were looking rough I pulled him out, and did a nice big water change to let the trimac heal up Been feeding "treat" items like Mysis shrimp, brine shrimp and bloodworms to get the guys to fill out Was a bit concerned because they are a bit lean looking

Well, long term I'm not sure a trimac will live with the loaches They get big and mean and may pick on beat the clowns But right off the bat, adding 2 of just about any species of cichlid is a bad idea One will be dominant and eventually pick on the other, and with only one other in the tank all the abuse is directed to that one subdominant fish What's your intended end game for the tank
