Confusion over 220 and 230 volt outlets - Home Improvement Stack Exchange Rule of thumb for home appliances: 220, 230, 240, it's all close enough not to worry about the difference There's a good chance the actual voltage on your outlet is somewhere in between and it's even possible the voltage is even lower than 220 (say, 218)
Can I extend a 240 V line? - Home Improvement Stack Exchange I have a 240 V line in my kitchen for an oven We are remodeling the kitchen and moving the oven and, thus, need to move the 240 V outlet Can I extend the line by joining cables in a junction box
Does a 240v water heater circuit require a neutral? TL;DR: Your tankless heater is a 240V "only" circuit and the instructions assume cable There are 3 types of circuits and 2 kinds of wiring methods in typical US residential construction: Circuit Types 120V This generally includes lighting (though modern LED lighting can often handle 240V just fine), "regular" receptacles around the home and most hardwired devices - e g , dishwasher, disposal
What voltage amperage garage circuits should I install for welding . . . In addition to amperage, you should decide what voltage you want to be able to use, and if 220, which type of outlet you're likely to need A 220v welder will take about half the amperage of a similar 110v welder 90-100 amps is fairly common, but you can find smaller (and larger) welders An air compressor will probably take a lot less current, maybe 20-30 amps for 220v or 20-50 amps for 110v
Adding GFCI to a 240v outlet - Home Improvement Stack Exchange I recently added a 240v 30amp outlet to my garage for the purpose of an electric homebrewing system After doing some reading, I see that it's highly recommended that the outlet be GFCI because giant
electrical - Can I put a 20 amp plug on a 20 amp outlet wired to a 30 . . . As for the outlet which is rated 20 amp 240v should be able to handle 4400 watts My question is, I would like to put a smart plug rated 20amps or maybe even 16amps 240v to each of the outlets of the 0 75HP ACs only Is it safe? EDIT: Changed voltage from 220 to 240
Combining 2 110v wall plugs (different breakers) to be 220v? Thank you for a quick answer I understand the dangers behind that, however, this is a 1 room apartment effectively and I am the only occupant I have the ability to secure the plugs to the wall I understand now that the Y setup would give me 20a, however, would it be possible to do 2 Y adaptors on 3 different breakers, and use those 2 separate 220v 20a circuits? I realize this would double
