Losing aggregate from asphalt shingle ridge - DIY Home Improvement Forum Initially I thought that it was staining (like mildew) because the underlying color is black But then I noticed that the downspouts were depositing large amounts of shingle aggregate at their bases after a heavy rain I then inspected using binoculars and it's clear that the black color is due to missing aggregate Otherwise the roof looks normal
Exposed aggregate--inconsistent surface--advice? We had a new driveway and walkway poured 7 days ago It is exposed aggregate that looked OK wet when first washed to expose the small rocks As it dries cures, however, the surface appears splotchy as if the washing was not consistent or complete It looks as though the small rocks were exposed more in some sections and less in others
Retaining wall base - DIY Home Improvement Forum I'm having a hard time deciding what to do with the base aggregate for a retaining wall build I've dug a trench about 18" deep I put in my base aggregate which is 2A limestone This material is considered road base It has crushed stone ranging from dust, up to 1 5" It compacts well
Pouring Concrete against Existing concrete - DIY Home Improvement Forum And if you mean the existing "aggregate" is exposed aggregate finish, I would put an expansion joint if aesthetics were important (if seen) between the two finishes Also, not much info, but stair stringers should not rest on a concrete pad, they mount to the railing posts which should have footings
concrete from mortar - DIY Home Improvement Forum In practice, concrete materials (cement, sand, aggregate) are weighed out and compensated for the water they contain, but in a plant they are batched by WEIGHT For mortar, everything is specified by volume The amount of aggregate is usually 2 1 4 to 3 times the VOLUME of the cementitious materials
Pebble Overlay (over existing concrete patio) - DIY Home Improvement Forum Here, concrete with the right aggregate and a retarder spray is the most common I had a small exposed aggregate (12x22) section put in by a contractor friend and they ordered the "McDonalds" mix (3 8" to 1 2" rounded river rock) that is always available
how to fill in voids gaps after removing forms from concrete pour I did a rough job of filling smoothing out the aggregate voids This picture gives you an idea of it but the the sun was too bright for much detail I used Quickrete Fast Set Mortar It worked pretty well I choose it due to low sag for the overhead work and having to build out (sculpt) some corners and edges
