PSA: There is a free, open source alternative to AlDente If your (Apple Silicon) MacBook is chronically plugged in and you want manual control to limit the battery’s charge, try Battery Toolkit by M Häuser instead of AlDente The app has more capabilities than the free version of AlDente and adheres to modern macOS standards I’ve not seen it recommended anywhere but it’s a real underappreciated gem, hence i felt like sharing it here!

No Aldente, just optimized battery charging After around a week of this, it started keeping it at 80% Then, it would periodically charge it to 100% and then letting it discharge to 80 every week or so BH is at 94% (same as when i started keeping it plugged in all the time) after a year of use
