Flying - When to use alternate air? - EuroGA I think that with regard to fuel servo icing this is different i e you should use alt air as a fuel servo protective measure, but what about on planes with a carburettor? Also alternate air robs the engine of a fair bit of power, so really kills high altitude climb performance
Flying - Prolonged flight in IMC on alternate air? - EuroGA So opening alternate air as a preventive measure when flying in icing conditions (and even rain) may be a good idea, and is recommended by some AFMs One Cirrus SR22T pilot on this forum reported having lost engine power due to air intake icing and the alternate air door (automatic) not opening until he reached warmer temperatures (OAT -13℃)
Flying - Best iPad app for flying in France? - EuroGA The interface does not use iOS, Android or Windows default controls Instead it uses it own custom controls specifically designed to make them easier to use in the air, so you’re not trying to fiddle with tiny switches while flying This means that the interface takes a bit more learning but once learnt, it’s much easier to use in the air
Maintenance Avionics - Alternatives to EasyVFR SkyDemon - EuroGA NOT recommendable is Air Nav (irrespective of Pro or Lite version) I used that for a year but got so fed up because the developer would release an Update which you HAD to install otherwise the APP wouldn’t start, then this new update would delete ALL your Maps
Flying - Stall speed at altitude - euroga. org Good thread, there is a diagram showing critical alpha reducing with compressibility, possibly courtesy of Boeing Until 2007 (AF447) airline crews weren’t trained in high altitude stalling, or stall recovery in Alternative Law (Airbus) In fact the entire stall recovery training in airliners had to be changed, both low level, and high altitude

ADS-L? Now mandatory in U airspace? Compliance options? It seems that EASA has now mandated ADS-L in U airspace, per SERA 6005(c): (c) U-space airspace (d) Manned aircraft operating in airspace designated by the competent authority as a U-space airspace, and not provided with an air traffic control service by the ANSP, shall continuously make themselves electronically conspicuous to the U-space service providers
Maintenance Avionics - Engine calendar life, where mandatory? All piston and turbine engines installed in aeroplanes and helicopters operated pursuant to CAR 406, in large aircraft operated pursuant to CAR 604, and in aircraft operated pursuant to Part VII, shall be overhauled at the intervals recommended by the engine manufacturer, or in accordance with an alternative hard time interval or an engine on
