ANUTA COMMUNITY Welcome to the official website of Anuta, a community in the southwestern Pacific The community’s traditional home is the island of Anuta, located at the eastern end of the Solomon Islands’ Temotu Province, about 75 miles (or 120 kilometers) from its nearest neighbor, Tikopia
History – ANUTA COMMUNITY At some point during Pu Ariki’s reign the Tikopian chief voyaged to Anuta, where he spoke with the two indigenous chiefs He told them of the storms, droughts, tidal waves, and famines he had come to know back home, but which Anuta had not experienced
Geography – ANUTA COMMUNITY Anuta is a small volcanic outcropping in the Solomon Islands’ Temotu Province It is the country’s easternmost populated island, located at approximately 169°50’ East and 11°40’ South

Foodways – ANUTA COMMUNITY The only terrestrial animals to be eaten on Anuta are several types of land crab, and this is only done by children for entertainment Birds, on the other hand, are sometimes fairly plentiful, and they may be hunted as an alternative to catching fish
