  • Supporting worktop span (1. 4m), no units below. - DIYnot
We have just had our back porch demolished and made larger We are still waiting for the final screed to be put on the floor, but this is effectively a utility room What we have now is a U shaped recess, in which I want to place a worktop We have 2 plain red-brick walls (left end and back)
  • combined rain downpipe and soil vent??? | DIYnot Forums
Thanks for the replies, The drains currently run from a toilet in the back porch under the porch floor to outside then turn 90 degrees to join the other drains from the kitchen, the porch was added years ago and built around the pipes rather than move them The rain downpipe drops into a u bend gully which then joins the main soil pipe
  • Need some advice on DPM (at patio door threshold) (Ed. )
OP, Do you have a porch roof? How high is the step above the linear drain? The new patio level might have bridged the DPC? Is the floor solid or suspended? Why not rake out all the loose material clean up, (use a vacuum) For new pics - why not stand back for a big context
  • when is a porch not a porch? | DIYnot Forums
The definition of a porch is an extension attached to a dwelling in front of any external door What you put inside a porch (or even an extension) when built is irrelevant because internal works do not constitute development And if it isn't development, it doesn't require planning permission
  • Do I need building regs FENSA for additional door? - DIYnot
Building a porch at ground level and under 30 square metres in floor area is normally exempt from the need for building regulations approval This is provided that glazing and any fixed electrical installations comply with the appropriate sections of building regulations
  • single brick skin porch condensation damp | DIYnot Forums
I have a porch with a pitched roof, built on the outside of the house and it is single brick skin construction It used to be open (ie just covered space) with only an inner front door (between porch and main house) Recently, in order to create more 'inside' space, we put a new front door on
  • Laying steps outside backdoor and patio doors. | DIYnot Forums
There is a patio door and a back door with about 18 inch drop and currently no step and I need to put a step in to pass building control Does anyone know how far down the step needs to be from the bottom of the door to meet regulations and for the water not to get in
  • Condensation in a Concrete Built Porch | DIYnot Forums
With double glazing in the porch and a single-glazed door to the house, you are going to get some heat coming from the house I think you ought to seal the internal door to prevent more moisture escaping into the porch from the warm house
  • Insulating a single brick porch | DIYnot Forums
The porch is making the downstairs of the house extremely cold due to it only being made of a single layer of bricks and having no insultation to speak of whatsoever There isn't even any plasterboard on the brick, just some textured compound that has been painted over
  • lean to front Porch - roof design and suggestion | DIYnot Forums
Hi Im constructing a lean to porch and wondering if anyone can assist in the design i have The concrete foundation and 1 layer brickwork is already done I will be using UPVC panels for the design as shown in the picture My concern is the lean to roof Currently the porch will have 2 corner
