  • Permatrex Copper spray on Cometic MLS About to put everything together . . .
Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gaskets go on dry because they are coated with a sealant Each MLS head gasket is coated with a 001" thick Viton rubber that is bonded to the outer stainless steel layers
  • If you reuse MLS head gaskets. . . - Don Terrill’s Speed-Talk
I remember from a previous thread somewhere there were (are) people unhappy w Mr Gasket MLS gaskets after they shifted from repackaging Cometics to whatever their (probably offshore) source is now If, even re-coated, the Mr G MLS stuff is suspect, I'll switch to Cometics and still use the same sealant out of concern for fluid leaks
  • CopperCoat on a MLS or not? | DSMtuners. com
MLS gaskets do not use copper coatings for the simple fact they have a coating applied to them already That and any imperfections that are present on either surfaces are only going to be removed by means of machining There's no way around it We learned about this at the 2014 AETC conference before PRI If you must hear it directly from someone at Cometic then give Mark Chollett a call at
  • Resolved - Reuse Cometic MLS head gasket? | DSMtuners. com
Should i reuse my Cometic MLS head gasket? i was looking at the gasket and the black thing on top is missing on some spots, i think i should be OK since lots of people had reused their MLS head gaskets Here is a picture, also what should i use to clean it?You must be registered to see
  • Cometic MLS head gasket and Hylomar - Don Terrill’s Speed-Talk
Want opinions on using Hylomar M (blue) with Cometic MLS head gaskets Back when Cometic MLS gaskets were rolling out, their rep recommended coating both sides of the gasket with Hylomar M spray Is this still necessary or better for sealing purpose? Current build is SBC G1, iron block decked and finished for MLS and new aluminum heads Appreciate all feedback
  • Fel Pro or Cometic head gskts. - Don Terrill’s Speed-Talk
I would like some opions on using the Cometic MLS head gaskets as opposed to the tried and true Fel Pro HP head gaskets I am currently freshning customers 585 B B chevy Aluminum heads, cast iron block,no o-rings with 3 stages of nitrous The Fel Pros didnt show much signs of problems other than both sides of the gaskets over most of the area had like a thin film of oil and small areas were
  • Re-torque MLS cometic head gaskets? - Don Terrill’s Speed-Talk
Re: Re-torque MLS cometic head gaskets? by S10LS2 » Sat Apr 22, 2017 1:52 am maca wrote: Hey guys ? How many heat Cycles should I do until I re-torque my mls head gaskets One or several Would be nice if your question was a bit more professional? Is this a briggs and stratton 5hp Or a 355 small block chevy with 25psi turbocharged?
  • Fel-Pro MLS vs Cometic MLS - Don Terrill’s Speed-Talk
What do you guys think of the Fel-Pro mls vs Cometic? I've got a set of each in the shop right now and the Fel-Pro has a sticker coating and they claim it is more forgiving to a slightly rougher finish on the blocks and heads I can see where it (Fel-Pro), would conform better to irregularities due to this coating, just haven't used one yet BTW, the application is a mild blown BBC, approx 6-7
  • Can I use a cometic mls gasket with o ringed head
You can use a cometic with a O ringed head or block Its been done, and there has been a couple shop cars that have ran that setup for reasons of needing a special thickness gasket since the oem mls comes in one thickness
  • Cometic MLS Gaskets - Don Terrill’s Speed-Talk
Re: Cometic MLS Gaskets by Alan Roehrich » Tue May 15, 2012 11:18 am Install new Cometic MLS head gaskets being used the first time dry When you re-use them, use Permatex spray copper coat, one even coat, full coverage, both sides, installed while still very tacky
