Company News:
  • Barnes LRX - First Season Impressions - Long Range Hunting Forum
Final cull was 35 stags, quite a few of which I shot myself I ran LRX bullets out of all three of my rifles, a Tikka T3x in 6 5 Creedmoor (127g @ 2,765ft sec), a semi custom Remington in 270 (129g @ 2,890ft sec) and a Sako 75 in 7mm STW (168g @ 3,250ft sec)
  • Most brass too short. Trim them all? - Long Range Hunting Forum
Greetings First post, but I've gleaned lots of info over the years Great forums Summary: My 300 win mag brass is averaging well below the trim-to length Should I trim it all to near the shortest and go for it, or should I waste a bunch and try and cull out the stuff that's well below
  • 270 Win, which bullet weight? - Long Range Hunting Forum
I appreciate your input Nathan Foster is a gentleman in New Zealand that between guide service and cull hunts, has likely taken more game than more than 99% of sportsmen in the world He has documented much of his work with many different calibers and bullet combinations His work is fairly respected
  • Winchester brass good enough or not worth it?
All had about a 20% cull rate with pleated necks and shoulders, flash holes not centered or round, even some with 2 distinct flash holes I fired 10 of the 338WM brass to get a volume average and was shocked to see neck splits on 3 pieces The volume also varied quite a bit
  • Hammer HBC Initial Launch | Page 3 - Long Range Hunting Forum
Mine is 20" barrel and has never made the velocity it should Tried Hornady brass this time thinking it might hold up better since it is not small at the base but that didn't help either Anyway, got the 120gr running about 3350 fps and will confirm my drops today Will Hammer a Hawaiian ram on Tuesday! Maybe some pigs and other cull animals too
  • SOUTH AFRICA - BEWARE | Page 5 - Long Range Hunting Forum
It doesn't have to be that expensive The worst part is taxidermy and getting it brought back to your home If you only wanted pics or were open to cull hunting 6k with a plane ride would get it done And the expense is broken up over a year or two For 2k more you can have taxidermy Flights and everything included
  • Terrible Implementation. (partial solution inside) - Long Range Hunting . . .
    2) Unless the tracking data is completely wonky, it's usually not really necessary to sort cull the data, as the regression will usually be "close enough" as long as there are a few dozen well behaved data points Data points highlighted pink are outside an arbitrary tolerance, and represent poor tracking and or spurious results
  • Hualapai Reservation Arizona Elk Hunt - Long Range Hunting Forum
45, I hunt the ranch bordering the reservation every year for elk I've seen some monsters there Many say the bulls go to the reservation after the rut to hang out Never heard of the deformed antler hunt, must be a cull hunt I've noticed most of the bulls in that area have a possible genetically shorter G-3 What is the date of your hunt?
  • Most Consistent 30-30 Winchester brass. - Long Range Hunting Forum
I'd try the Starline then It's not super high end stuff like Lapua but I think it's gonna be the best for the cartridge If you want to absolutely minimize brass variation neck turn it to get consistent necks then weight sort it Also cull any outliers hardness wise
  • Hunting Opportunities in Texas - Long Range Hunting Forum
Nomad is pretty accurate on Texas hunting I am no fan of High fence hunting either I have hunted the King Ranch and will say that what I have seen there is worlds better than anywhere else in Texas, but it is pricey
