OCarolan Tunes - mandolincafe. com David Hansen - Jun-29-2013, 4:19pm Thomas Leixlip The Proud is published in "O'Neil's Music of Ireland" and is listed as an O'Carolan tune It does not appear in "The Complete Works of O'Carolan" and there is some controversy as to it's label as an O'Carolan tune
One Seventy Four (174) by Turlough OCarolan - Mandolin Cafe David Hansen - Dec-13-2014, 5:59pm This is another of "The tunes without titles" from "The Complete Works of O'Carolan" , although I have seen it called "Planxty Safaigh" and "O'Carolan's Fancy Planxty Safaigh doesn't seem to fit in with the other planxty titles and I couldn't find out what "safaigh" meant
Week #221 ~ Carolans Farewell to Music Carolans Dream I suspect that the video of David Hansen's is the one but there are several tunes with very similar names! Here's a link to the Farewell to Music on thesession org Here's a link to Carolan's Dream on thesession org Here are some You Tube Videos: First, here's our own David Hansen with his previously posted arrangement!
Week #13 ~ Kentucky Waltz ~ Bluegrass Tune David Hansen - Jul-25-2009, 7:47pm Well I listened to a lot of different versions of this tune and I stole bits and pieces from all of them, so this is my "Frankenstein" version of the Kentucky Waltz

Week #298 ~ Sir Charles Coote - mandolincafe. com David Hansen's video will be very hard to beat! Very very well done By the way, the second video doesn't seem to work In the meantime I found this wonderful version, by members of one of my favourite bands, Fairport Convention:
Week #211 ~ Star of County Down - mandolincafe. com Knowing this only as a song bawled in chorus in the late hours of pub sessions, I find your delicate 3 4 version especially enlightened David Seems to represent the point of view of sweet colleens who'd rather avoid to meet rough ramblers from Bantry Bay to Derry Quay
Maddies Pride - Mandolin Cafe David Hansen - Mar-11-2012, 8:23am That's great Bertram, Maddie would be proud I never really thought of this tune in an Irish music setting, more of an old time tune in my view but apparently it has a universality all of it's own
Week #183 ~ Black Mountain Aire - Mandolin Cafe Somehow I missed some of the earlier performances! What a treat when I went back and listened to them I'd pay actual money to hear Topher Gayle and David Hansen perform together Their Black Mountain Aire is just what an aire should be -- delicate and just beautiful Manfred's excellent arrangement and mighty fine playing are a treat
