The Roottrees are Dead |OT| Genealogy Genie (Now on Steam!) Obra Dinn is the obvious comparison, but I think this owes a big debt to Her Story as well, having to navigate an extremely particular late 90s internet browser database that requires absolutely perfect search terms This is just about an optional easter egg, but spoiling to be safe
The Roottrees are Dead - Obra Dinn in your browser - ResetEra 2023 keeps on giving Saw a link to this and lost a whole day digging and investing the browser-based mystery game Finally finished it today The Roottrees are Dead by jjohnstongames (itch io) It's very similar to the Obra Dinn core loop - solve three identities correctly and you'll get
Papers, Please vs. Return of Obra Dinn - ResetEra Obra Dinn is more my type of game And the music is godamn incredible, one of my favourite gaming soundtracks ever But Papers Please is also really good Its a win win situation regardless
Recommendations for a moderately difficult puzzle game. Blue Prince is a great game and I'd argue easier to hit credits on than the likes of Obra Dinn or Golden Idol, however lengthwise it is probably around 20-30 hours so may not be what you are after It is also a hybrid roguelike puzzle game and so there are mechanics that may not be to your taste if you are after a pure puzzler

Just as the title says I really loved Obra Dinn, and was rewatching playthroughs to relive the experience vicariously lately And it put me in the mood for something like it I don't need the mystery investigation aspect (although it wouldn't hurt!), I just wanted to know if there are another
Best Games made by a very small team. (10 or less people) How many people worked on Obra Dinn? Was that just Lucas Pope or did he have a full team backing him? I think he did everything outside of localization Edit: He didn't do voice acting and localization He did the programming, art, sound, and music himself
What do you call the genre of games like TUNIC and Outer Wilds? Deduction works for the more gameplay focused elements of the genre, but it also would include games like The Case Of The Golden Idol and Return of the Obra Dinn which don't feel like the same genre? But I can see an argument for it
This is a thread for recommending other Metroidbrainias . . . - ResetEra Return of the Obra Dinn is a masterpiece I had several a-ha moments while not even playing the game Another vote for The Swapper, as well Toki Tori 2 is also ingenious Zachtronics makes some great stuff, too Infinifactory is the most approachable of the games I've played from them
