Do you use the Izurvive? : r dayz - Reddit You could use the ingame tourist map together with a compass and the roadside big maps This was the original way of getting your bearings in the game After a while you would pretty much find your way just by using landmarks I myself used to use Izurvive for the first 200 hours of the game bit after that I could pretty much find my way without help
