Company News:
  • Omission of comma between city state (USPS standard)
The USPS does not use a comma between the city and the two-letter state abbreviation Just your opinion, of course Arrested on charges of conspiracy were: John Smith (40) of East Rutherford NJ, Dave Thompson (39) of Tallahassee FL and Arthur Davis (55) of Dallas TX
  • City, State, ZIP Code - comma? | WordReference Forums
If you send first-class mail, USPS recommendations (post 2) are just that: recommendations You can address the item any way you want They are legally required to do everything within their power to deliver it
  • Solved: Insurance Option - Welcome to the Etsy Community
Brian Bryant from DesignsbyBryant says: I think the calculated shipping is a much needed feature for Etsy This is the first I have heard of this feature and I am just now joining this discussion so please forgive me if my reply may seem ignorant
  • I cant make out the measurements 8-5 8 x 5-3 8 - WordReference Forums
I hope my inquiry is not beyond the scope of this forum I want to send a package using USPS mail service I can't make out the following measurements in inches It reads USPS-Produced Small Box: 8-5 8" x 5-3 8" x 1-5 8" Maximum weight 4 pounds I wonder why there is a hyphen there and a slash I'd be obliged if you could help me Thank you
  • ATT, ATTN, FAO . . . - abbreviations for attention in correspondence
When writing english business letters, which is the corrct abbreviation of "attention" I reckon it must be either "att" or "atn" I've always used "att", but fear that it might be a calque introduced from danish Thank you
  • Inbound Outbound flights? - WordReference Forums
I think the most useful way to consider this, for someone who has booked a return flight from A to B (and back), is that the first flight, going from A to B, is the outbound, and the flight returning from B to A is the inbound (which leaves out the confusing bit about a speaker's location; you could be in Paris and book a return flight from Sidney to Hong Kong, and the fact you are in Paris
  • Do I need to go to the counter at the PO? - Etsy
Ok, this is a bit of a dumb question, but I don't want to screw this up I have my first international order going out today It is 2 oz, going to the UK I printed my label and customs form on Etsy It's good to go Do I need to give it to a post office employee behind the counter or can I drop it
  • Should the following abbreviations be punctuated?
There is a difference between AE and BE usage AE puts a period after every abbreviation (There is an exception for some units of measurement, with "mm" treated as an alternative shorter form of "millimeter" rather than an abbreviation in the usual sense even though it originated as one, and so on for other units
  • letter carrier (postman) vs courier | WordReference Forums
In general, a letter carrier is a type of courier, but a full answer depends on the context in which the terms are used
  • send a letter vs. post a letter vs. mail a letter - WordReference Forums
I agree with three quarters of that In BE we would use the verb "post" when putting the item into any kind of letter-box, public (Royal Mail) or private (the addressee's own), but I believe in AE the verb "mail" would only be used with a public mailbox (the US Postal Service) and not when they personally deliver a letter to someone's private mailbox
