Greenbacks or Vintage 30s for Marshall DSL? - The Gear Page I am not unhappy with the combination by any means, but I'm wondering if Greenbacks or like speaker would be a better fit for the mid- heavy DSL I imagine they would tame the high end and bass, but wonder if clarity may be an issue I've owned Greenbacks in the past with non-Marshall heads and found them to be a bit muddy
Vox AC-30 -- Greenbacks or Celestion Blues? - The Gear Page But Greenbacks are imo more versatile rock speakers, and they imbue the ac30 with a certain raunchy character that works well Basically, blues produce a classic tone and are symbiotic with the amp; as the amp gets more distorted, the speakers get more compressed, grindy but smooth and midrangy
Which speakers for 2x12 plexi cab? Greenback vs Creamback. I'm not fan of greenbacks I have 4x12 Marshall cab loaded with 25 watt greenbacks and it sounds terrible with my Marshall 1959 Superlead and DSL I had standard jcm cabs with higher wattage speakers and they souded great I also had a 1936 Marshall cab with two Vintage 30s and that cab sounded way better than the 4x12 with the greenbacks
Which speakers for 2x12 plexi cab? Greenback vs Creamback. When i moved to a 2x12 closed back with Greenbacks i felt the cab congested with the Plexi Dunno if its the wattage of the speakers but i swapped em for two V-Types Much better tone and tighter low end yet they retain that pappery vintage midrange that Greenbacks have with less compression on the low end
100watt Marshall + 4x12 Greenbacks = good bad idea? My old 25 watt Greenbacks (1968 Basketweave 412) sound so good--I'd hate to blow them, so I got me the Aracom attenuator to use with my 1969 100 watt Superbass plexi I don't notice any sound difference, knocked down a few clicks to even all the way to bedroom volume, still the great sound without danger of blowing them, and much more usable
2x12 Cab with Greenbacks for a 50 amp. Yes or no and why? But from my experience these Greenbacks take a ton of abuse, despite the 25W rating, and despite the warning on the magnet cover that urges one to adhere to the 25W rating To be clear, I was literally running this 50W Hiwatt with the master at 3:00 and the gain cranked 2 Greenbacks, open back 2x12 That was my setup for a number of years
2x12 with greenbacks? - The Gear Page Seriously, I was gung ho on Scumbacks for a few years based on all the positive reviews I had some bad experiences, like blowing two 100w M75's with a 40w amp and just not liking the sound of a 4x12 loaded with M75's Love my Chinese greenbacks So does Greg Germino I'm just giving my opinion Big fan of Chinese greenbacks
Celestion G12C Greenback Speakers - The Gear Page -all have a different voicing-(slightly in some, more so in other's)-I don't hear that the 55hz greenback's "are brighter than 75hz greenbacks" thou -I love all the different greenback speakers, yes even the Chinese greenback's, my favorite are the cp 55hz greenback's-(I've got a matching pair of late 70's, 55hz, 16ohm, BLACKBACK'S that I
Celestion G12m Greenback New Production | The Gear Page I've owned 2 Quads of Greenbacks over the past 5 years An early 90's made in England set and a set of Chinese productions speakers They were exactly as you described Both had an upper fizz that I could not dial out One thing that draws me to pre 75' G12M's is the smooth top end and clarity in old Marshall 4x12's
H75 vs GB vs V30s mix in a 4x12 - The Gear Page The cab currently has 2x Greenbacks in the top, and 2x H75 Creambacks in the bottom Sounds great but I'm really curious to swap 2 out for a pair of v30s Originally I intended on swapping out the greenbacks to match the speaker sensitivities but after listening to a few greenback shootouts on YouTube I'm starting to consider keeping the
