Overwolf safe? - UI and Macro - World of Warcraft Forums Overwolf bought Curseforge from Twitch, so it’s a legit client Some folks don’t like it because of the ads, or because they threatened to block access from other addon managers (I don’t know if they followed through on that), or because of the in-game overlays Those are legitimate concerns but they don’t make the Overwolf client “malware” IMO
Whats the deal with overwolf - World of Warcraft Forums Overwolf isn’t big enough or have an offering that would let them just purely be an addon company without having advertisements As they have bought the platform they are now looking to clamp down on other addon updaters that capture information from curseforge and provide a direct download link - from a company PoV this makes sense
So Overwolf is just going to be allowed to hold a monopoly over addons . . . So, if I’m wrong I apologize I’m rather behind on the cursforge vs wowup situation but the way I understand it Cursforge (overwolf) hosts the addons and pays for the storage and servers to maintain the addons for download to the public by using their application or downloading the addon on individual level for manual install WowUp, which is a competitor and who just signed a agreement
Curseforge standalone installer - World of Warcraft Forums If I delete Curseforge Overwolf, then install the Curseforge standalone, will I have to reinstall all my addons? I currently have 80 addons and it would be a PIA to reinstall them all let alone adjust all the settings again
