  • What is PAR and how much do we need? | Reef2Reef
Such as LPS corals can handle greater PARs up to 500, and soft corals will adjust to PAR over 200 with adequate time to adjust so they can adapt to a wide range of lighting over time The lighting schedule can also play a huge role in the success of the reef aquarium regarding PAR levels
  • Best Par and photo period for LPS and Softies | Reef2Reef
I’m looking to know the best photo period or time of peak lighting and ideal par for my lps and limited softies My radon xr15 have a peak lighting period from 12pm to 5pm then they dim down from there I’m running AB+ at 60 percent and I’m getting about 100 to 200 par Is this too much light ?
  • Selecting corals for you reef: What is your mix of SPS, LPS, and Softies?
Mix for the most part! The only thing off-limits are leathers, as they generally don't play nice with stony corals My 15G is a fully mixed reef with SPS, LPS, Zoas, Shrooms and Star Polyps, and a maxi-mini nem I have a 25G SPS-dominant reef, or so i'd like to think, seeing as how everything that isn't SPS or LPS, is covered in blue clove polyps!
  • Difference between SPS, LPS, Soft Corals, and more.
What is the Difference between SPS, LPS, Soft Corals, and more What are some of the others? I am new to all of the coral stuff and what to get a better understanding of how it all works
  • What are the best LPS corals for beginners? | Reef2Reef
Hi all, for my tank I have decided to start with the lowest maintenance corals, softies, but eventually I would like to move onto some simpler LPS corals My question is, how much more demanding are LPS corals compared to soft corals? I know I’ll have to start monitoring for PO4 and alkalinity
  • Easy High Light Corals | Reef2Reef
Noticing the top 1 3 of my tank kinda bare and could use some suggestions on easy corals that I can put high that aren't just zoas or some invasive type coral Got a leather and toadstool already higher up Any recommendations?
  • I am struggling to grow LPS and SPS but my Soft Corals are Doing . . .
Hi all, I have been trying to keep sps and lps corals in my tank for some time, I have noticed that my phosphate levels are registering on my Hannah UL range Phosphate tester around 0 9 and my nitrates tested with the Hannah test kit are around 75ppm I have tried keeping all kinds of easy to
  • Goniopora and Manganese | Reef2Reef
I think you are on the right track getting an ICP test It could be related to manganese, but without the results we are really just speculating What about lighting and flow? I imagine they would be a bit different considering you are keeping SPS now vs LPS dominant in your last tank…
  • Optimal phosphate level? (Mixed Reef) | Reef2Reef
What should a good phosphate level be for a mixed reef be (SPS,LPS, softies)? My phosphate levels were around a 0 15ppm and I was told that was to low so I brought it up to a 0 30ppm but I think that’s to high What should it be around?
  • Do you need to choose between LPS and SPS? | Reef2Reef
The guy at my LFS told me you need to choose between an LPS or SPS tank because LPS like dirtier water and higher nitrates and SPS prefer clean water and really low nitrates Is this accurate? Thanks in advance
